Shot in France, Italy and in the United-States, this documentary by Romain Pieri and René-Jean Bouyer is rich in musical excerpts and rare archives and features previously unseen testimonies by Sting, Plácido Domingo, Zubin Mehta, or Ruggero Raimondi, to name but a few. Much like the man to whom this documentary is devoted, “Pavarotti, chanteur populaire” contributes to knocking through the wall that stands between opera and the larger public.
